H.E. Augusto R. Arosemena

Augusto R. Arosemena M. will discuss Panama’s strategy of becoming a global hub for logistics and distribution and explores how changing trade dynamics are impacting progress.

Augusto R. Arosemena Moreno is Panama’s Minister of Commerce and Industry. He is chairman of the board of directors of the Colon Free Zone, and chairs the National Logistics Cabinet, which leads public-private efforts to consolidate Panama as a leading global logistics and distribution hub. Before his appointment in January 2016, Mr. Arosemena served as Vice-Minister of the Presidency. He worked at a prominent Panamanian law firm, where his clients included financial institutions and multinational firms. Mr. Arosemena also served as a commercial counsellor in Panama’s embassy to the United States during the negotiation of the Free Trade Agreement between Panama and the United States. He has a degree in law and political science from Santa Maria La Antigua University and a LLM in banking, corporate and finance law from Fordham University, New York.
